Here’s a description of Dungeons & Dragons: Dungeon Scrawlers – Heroes of Undermountain, a fast-paced, family-friendly D&D board game with a unique twist:

🐉 Dungeons & Dragons: Dungeon Scrawlers – Heroes of Undermountain

Type: Real-time maze scrawling board game
Players: 2–4
Age: ~10+
Playtime: ~15 minutes per session (The Dice Tower)

🎲 Theme & Setting

In this game, players become adventurers delving into the legendary dungeon complex Undermountain, the sprawling labyrinth created by the infamous Mad Mage Halaster Blackcloak beneath the city of Waterdeep. Your goal isn’t a long campaign—it's a race through the depths to collect treasure, defeat monsters, and gather artifacts before your rivals. (The Dice Tower)

✏️ How It Plays

  • Each round, you explore one of the dungeon mazes, using a dry-erase marker to draw a continuous path through the dungeon on your personal dungeon sheet. (The Dice Tower)

  • As you trace your path, you:

    • Defeat monsters by filling in their spaces

    • Collect treasure by marking around them

    • Cast spells by drawing special patterns

    • Connect artifact fragments for points

  • You have a limited amount of time before a dungeon’s boss is defeated by someone—so you’re pressed to gather as many points as possible before the round ends. (Dungeons & Dragons Shop)

🧙 Characters & Abilities

At the start, each player picks one of five character types. Each has a unique ability that makes certain tasks easier—for example:

  • The Rogue can collect treasure by touching it with a line

  • The Barbarian defeats monsters by filling their heads

  • The Wizard can cast spells by drawing a simple circle instead of a more complex pattern (The Dice Tower)

🧩 Components

  • 20 double-sided dungeon sheets (10 unique mazes)

  • 5 character tiles

  • Key and Orb tokens

  • 4 dry-erase markers

  • Rulebook (Dungeons & Dragons Shop)

🏆 Winning the Game

You explore three different dungeons per game, and the player with the most points at the end is the winner. Since each run takes only a few minutes, it’s perfect for quick sessions or playing multiple rounds in one sitting. (The Dice Tower)

Dungeon Scrawlers blends D&D flavor with a light, fast, almost arcade-style board game experience. It’s ideal if you like cooperative dungeon themes but prefer a quick and competitive tabletop challenge rather than a full campaign RPG session. (GeekDad)
